Terms of Service

Welcome to ScanVid (the "App"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute an agreement between you and the ScanVid development team ("we", "us", or "our") regarding your download, installation, and use of the App.
Please read these Terms carefully before using the App. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please stop using the App immediately.
1. Service Description
1.1 ScanVid is a professional barcode scanning and video recording tool providing the following core features:
- Automatic video recording triggered by barcode/QR code scanning (13 symbologies supported including QR Code, Code 128, Code 39, EAN-13, and UPC-A)
- Photo capture mode
- Project and tag organization
- GPS location tagging (optional feature)
- LAN-based desktop backup
- Multi-language support
1.2 The App is available in Free and Pro tiers:

1.3 We may adjust, optimize, or modify features as the product evolves, and will notify you through appropriate channels.
2. Subscriptions & Payment
2.1 Plans: Pro is available via auto-renewable subscription or one-time lifetime purchase:

Actual prices are displayed on the App Store and may vary by country or region.
2.2 Payment: Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
2.3 Auto-Renewal: The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
2.4 Managing Subscriptions: After purchase, subscriptions may be managed and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to your iPhone Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions.
2.5 Refunds & Cancellation: Fees for the current billing period are non-refundable. After cancellation, Pro features remain available until the end of the current billing period, after which the App reverts to the Free tier.
2.6 Restore Purchases: After switching devices or reinstalling the App, you can restore your existing subscription using the "Restore Purchases" feature within the App.
2.7 No free trial is currently offered. If a trial is introduced in the future, any unused portion of the trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
3. Acceptable Use
3.1 You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes. You must not use the App to:
- Record, produce, or distribute content that violates laws or regulations
- Infringe upon the legitimate rights of others (including but not limited to privacy, publicity, intellectual property, or trade secrets)
- Engage in activities harmful to national security, public interest, or public order
3.2 You must not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the App
- Circumvent payment mechanisms or subscription verification
- Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the App
- Distribute, resell, or rent the App through unofficial channels
- Interfere with the normal operation of the App by any technical means
3.3 Content Responsibility: You are solely responsible for the videos, photos, and other content you record using the App. You must ensure that you have obtained consent from relevant parties (where applicable) and comply with local laws and regulations regarding audio/video recording. You bear all consequences arising from your violation of these obligations.
4. Intellectual Property
4.1 All content of the App, including but not limited to software code, interface design, icons, trademarks, brand assets, and text, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.
4.2 You retain all rights to the videos, photos, and related data you create using the App.
4.3 You may not use the ScanVid name, trademark, logo, or other brand elements in any form without our prior written permission.
5. Privacy
5.1 We value your privacy. The App follows a local-data-first principle — all data is stored only on your device, and we do not collect or upload your personal data.
5.2 Please refer to our Privacy Policy for details on how we protect your privacy. The Privacy Policy forms an integral part of these Terms.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
6.1 The App is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, regarding merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, uninterrupted availability, or error-free operation.
6.2 You acknowledge and agree that we are not liable for data loss or damage resulting from:
- Insufficient device storage causing recording failure or file loss
- Device loss, damage, system failure, or operating system upgrades
- Accidental deletion of data by you
- Other circumstances not caused by our fault
6.3 We recommend regularly backing up important recordings via the desktop client.
6.4 GPS location information in the App may be inaccurate due to satellite signal, weather, and environmental factors. It is provided for reference only and does not constitute any guarantee of accuracy.
7. Limitation of Liability
7.1 To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages arising from the use of or inability to use the App, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, loss of goodwill, or other intangible losses.
7.2 In no event shall our total liability to you in connection with the App exceed the total amount you have actually paid for the App.
7.3 The above limitations do not apply to damages caused by our willful misconduct or gross negligence, nor do they exclude liabilities that applicable law does not allow to be excluded or limited.
8. Changes & Termination
8.1 We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
8.2 If you violate any provision of these Terms, we may immediately terminate the service to you and reserve the right to pursue legal remedies.
8.3 You may stop using and uninstall the App at any time, which terminates these Terms. Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all App data on your device, and this cannot be undone.
8.4 Sections 4 (Intellectual Property), 6 (Disclaimer of Warranties), 7 (Limitation of Liability), and 9 (Governing Law) survive termination of these Terms.
9. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
9.1 These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China.
9.2 Disputes arising from these Terms shall first be resolved through friendly negotiation. If negotiation fails, either party may submit the dispute to a court of competent jurisdiction.
10. Miscellaneous
10.1 These Terms (together with the Privacy Policy) constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the use of the App.
10.2 If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
10.3 Our failure or delay in exercising any right under these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right.
